Introduction to the Social Development Strategy (SDS)

Runtime: 1:56

For four decades, Dr. Kuklinski’s research group has developed, tested, and disseminated a theory called the Social Development Strategy (SDS) that explains how behavioral health outcomes are shaped by the contexts in which young people develop. She describes one of the important elements of the SDS: bonding between young people and positive role models, who may be parents, caregivers, teachers, coaches, health care providers, and others. How adults can support children in building these bonds is discussed.
