I am pleased to inform you about three exciting funding opportunity announcements (FOAs) and related technical assistance webinars to assist applicants. These FOAs, announced in late January, include the Botanical Dietary Supplement Research Centers, the Center for Natural Product Technology Methodology and Productivity Optimization, and the Natural Products NMR Open Data Exchange. Collectively, these initiatives form the Centers for Advancing Research on Botanicals and Other Natural Products (CARBON) Program. The Program is a partnership between the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements and NCCIH.

The Centers identify and characterize botanicals, assess the bioavailability and bioactivity of chemical components of botanicals, explore their mechanisms of action, conduct preclinical and clinical evaluations, establish resources to help accelerate these efforts, and provide a rich environment for training and career development. The Centers’ research is expected to greatly advance our understanding of the potential effects of botanicals on human health.

We hope that you will join us for one or more of our preapplication webinars to better understand the funding opportunities and review criteria, as well as to ask questions.

CARBON Program Preapplication Webinars will be held on February 11 and 12, 2019. The webinars are optional and not required for application submission.
