Natural Product Libraries a Resource for Researchers
October 22, 2015
Over the past few years, a number of investigators, in particular biologists and neurobiologists, have asked NCCIH about the existence of natural product libraries, from which they could obtain natural products for novel assays of biological activities and/or screening for potential therapeutic targets. In response to these inquires, we are compiling a listing of natural product libraries that is now available on our website. Many of these libraries offer an array of resources, including plant based products and metabolites from terrestrial and marine microbes.
Please note that the purpose of this listing is for informational purposes only, and to help researchers locate natural product libraries around the world that are available for public use on the specific terms that are designated by each library, which may include fees, among other obligations for access. Also, acceptance of any such terms is at the sole discretion of the prospective user. Inclusion on NCCIH’s listing does not indicate NCCIH’s approval of such terms or endorsement or affiliation by NCCIH, and NCCIH does not guarantee the accuracy of the content of any of the listed libraries.
If you know of a library that you would like added to our listing please let us know. In the future, we plan to post other resources that would be useful for researchers studying natural products. We welcome your suggestions regarding what you would like us to feature online and hope that we can provide more resources that will meet the needs of investigators interested in complementary and integrative health research.
